Revitalize Your Mind
AND Body
"I am too old for all that...."
I have been training people for many years now. I actually started when I was 25 and I am now nearing 50!
When I started in 2000 many of my clients age were 30-35. I am very lucky that many of current clients were with me all those years ago, and are growing old with me! They feel fitter than ever, and have maintained ( to name just a few )

-
agility
-
muscular strength
-
cardiovascular strength
-
flexibility
-
functional strength
-
co ordination
-
strong bone density

And just as importantly their mental health is amazing.
Regular moderate to intense exercise is important to all ages starting from a child, but the older you get the MORE important it becomes so you can have quality of life ( both physically and mentally ) for as much of your existence as possible.
I hear people say regularly whilst I am personal training ''oh I am too old for all that". Rubbish. Those that say that need to understand that above everyone, they are the ones that NEED to do it.
Your 20 and 30 year olds don't have a slowing metabolism, weakening joints, a weakening heart and lessening strength. But when you're over 40 WE DO.
So if you are sat there with the LIMITING BELIEF that you are too old to start exercising again, or that it's been such a long time that you're worried what will happen to your body, then allow me to give you all the advice and encouragement you need to get started.
Q. So How Does Health Coaching Work?

The whole process is BESPOKE, which means it is completely tailored around your personal health goals. Some of the most popular goals that I work with are:

Weight/Fat loss

Strength gain

Weight gain ( Body building )

By gaining weight through increased muscle mass, individuals can boost their metabolism and improve that all important body composition. This can lead to increased strength, improved physical performance, and reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Some individuals want to increase their muscle mass for purely aesthetic reasons ( bodybuilders ). Whatever your reasons for building muscle...we can do it!

Improved sports performance

Nutrition guidance/planning

Medical reasons ( to reduce blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol )

Maintain strength, flexibility, co ordination and agility for older populations

Q. Am I going to be pushed to my limits straight away?

Don't worry, the training doesn't start straight away!
We need to sit and talk first.

Just like anything in life 'failure to prepare is preparing to fail', so its
VERY important that spend time finding out all about you, your health goals and aspirations, your past and current exercise history and your diet, to name but a few.

Its also important to ensure that we have a basic exercise program designed so we can hit the ground running straight away.

Even when we have BOTH agreed that you are ready to start exercising, we will work at a pace that you are happy with.
Many people are fixated on standing on the scales to see if they have lost 'weight'.
But weigh loss can consist of fat, muscle tissue and water.
So what we will look at is the more important aspect of changing your body composition, which looks at the % of fat you have of overall body weight. This is achieved by skin fold callipers.
Its very important to lower your body fat. It lower your risk of heart disease, reduces pressure on joints, improves mental health, lowers your cholesterol, and also lowers the risk of other conditions such as type 2 diabetes and cancer.
There are quite a few reasons why people want to increase body strength. It could be to improve performance in sport, to fight against the effects of osteoporosis, to maintain movement, control and agility in an ageing body, to name a few.
One of the areas I work with regularly, is to make sure that injuries do not re occur. I work closely with TRUE PHYSIO, who have practices all over the North of England. Once an individual has been rehabilitated, then post injury strength training can start. It is SO important to continue a strength training program after injury, so that the original injury doesn't re occur. My expertise is second to none in this area.
